Almost 40 members and guests enjoyed the Lentune Probus Club annual wine tasting, at South Lawn Hotel, on Wednesday evening, 17th July.
The event was presented this year by Trevor Coles and Hayley Legg of Priory Wines, Lymington. Valuable contributions were given by Guy Lacaze, the Sommelier at South Lawn Hotel. The wines comprised 4 white, 4 red, 1 sparkling and 1 dessert, each from different grapes and from 7 different countries.
South Lawn Hotel provided an excellent range of accompanying cheeses and other nibbles.
Participants sat in tables of up to 8 persons, enabling in-depth discussions of the wines tasted with an interesting discussion about the varying levels of alcohol content, particularly in the red wines.
Closing the evening, Club Chairman Jim Thomas thanked Priory Wines and the Sommelier for the opportunity to sample such a wide range of wines. He also thanked Club member Trevor Rock for organising yet another successful wine event.
Club members and guests left with Tasting Notes for each wine and a £10 voucher for future purchases kindly donated by Priory Wines.
The next event for Lentune Probus ‘foodies’ will be our heavily subscribed Summer Luncheon at the Lord Bute Hotel, also organised by Trevor Rock.
