We're nearly back to “new normal” Club life.
Lentune Probus men met for lunch on 10 January, when speaker Anna Bunney of Europe's leading marine mammal conservation charity ORCA gave an excellent well-illustrated talk on Looking out for Whales & Dolphins. With the waters of the UK and Europe home to more than a third of the world's whale, dolphin and porpoise species, the talk roamed the seas, explaining how ORCA monitors the various populations of cetaceans. ORCA trains members of the public and bridge crews on cruise ships, ferries, Royal Naval and research vessels to become marine observers. Anna gave a fascinating talk on this important conservation initiative.
On 13 January Members and guests met at the Lymington Town Sailing Club for lunch followed a talk by Steve Billet, Water Safety Officer and Chairman of the local Lifeboat Management Group, on the History of the RNLI and Gold Medal Rescues. Following a lively question and answer session, members kindly made personal donations totalling £111 to the RNLI.
Lentune Ladies met for lunch on 5th January and enjoyed a interesting talk by Ron Taylor on a tour he had undertaken of Italian cities, all linked to the plays of William Shakespeare.
Already 2022 is beginning to feel more normal !
