Lentune Probus Club members like to try new things and our club committees work to make this possible. In recent years we've introduced members to ten-pin bowling and petanque, and we are now moving-on to croquet.

Croquet is an ancient game thought to have originated in France and then been imported to Britain during the rein of Charles 11. Others think it orginated in Ireland. The game has an up-market image because it is ideally played on a large lawn, which is usually the preserve of the wealthy. In reality, these days it is usually a casual, social game played by families in gardens large or small.

We're lucky in Lymington, having a council owned croquet pitch and an active Croquet Club, providing for beginners and experienced players alike.

And on 21st August, Croquet Club experts will be showing our members how the game should be played.
