Lentune Probus Men met for lunch on 14th March, when Mike Lee of Lymington Town Tours gave an wide-ranging talk on "The History of Milford". As well as covering the history and development of Milford viilage, Mike spoke of people, personalities and properties. He traced the gradual development from a rural village into quiet small seaside town. We learnt about aborted property development and the large houses such as Milford House, Newlands Manor, Hotel Victoria, and The White House . Mike spoke about personalities, their achievements and scandles, including Cornwallis, Whitby, De La Warr, Kivernall and Cornwallis-West, And, of course, no tale of Milford would be complete without a mention of smuggling !
