Our speaker at the February meeting and lunch was Brian Margetson with Ghosts, Royals and Ferrymen. The result of many years visiting, photographing and researching almost all the inshore ferries in England. These ranged from single oar rowing boats to, of course, the Isle of Wight hybrid car ferry but along the way covered craft such as the Mersey Ferry immortalised by Gerry and the Pacemakers, an ill fated electric boat and many other passenger carrying vessels. Brian illustrated his talk with both contemporary and historical photos and wove intersting tales around some thirty different craft in a fascinating and engaging talk from an enthusiastic and knowledgeable speaker.
