Factory Visit:
A second group of Lentune Probus Club and Lentune Probus Ladies Club members visited Lymington Precision Engineering, a leading local employer, on 11th January, following the very popular club visit to the company in April last year.
As before, we were welcomed by LPE senior managers who gave an introduction to the business, which produces and refurbishes precision-machined components and fabrications for the oil, gas, aerospace, defence, nuclear and marine industries.
Club members who completed engineering apprenticeships in the sixties and seventies were amazed at the extent to which engineering processes are now computerised and the tolerances now achievable.
After a lively wind-up Q&A session with the LPE management team, we were treated to a excellent sandwich lunch and coffee before returning home in the sunny weather.
Thanks are due to club member David Codling for organising this really interesting visit.
