During the past 12 months Lentune Probus Club has arranged visits to key local employers, to find out what makes our local economy tick. The visits have proved very popular with both our lady and gentlemen members.

We started by visiting Lymington Precision Engineers (LPE) Limited, where members familiar with the engineering quality standards and productivity levels of the 1960s were stunned by what is now achievable.

A visit to local family business the Berthon Boat Company followed. Established four generations ago, Berthon builds, repairs, restores, sells and berths yachts in their fourteen acre site just downstream from the Lymington Town Harbour.

Today we visited Double H Nurseries, the New Milton based third generation family business that started with a few small glasshouses and a can-do attitude, and has become the UK's largest grower of Phalaenopsis orchids, sold directly and through supermarkets and garden centres countrywide.
